Chocolate Bliss Balls. (and some chocolate logs…)

lilly-turdsEveryone who knows Lilly, knows that the way to her heart is through chocolate. I mean, she is our kid right?!

Her all time favourite foods are Weetbix, eggs, Pa’s sourdough and chocolate.

Mostly chocolate. In any form.

She’s not fussy.

At all.

So of course she jumped at the opportunity to help me make some chocolate bliss balls. We think she needs to work on her rolling ability though.

Agreed?

Chocolate Bliss Balls Recipe

Makes 20bliss-balls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 1/2 cup walnuts
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Method

Soak dates in boiling water for at least 5 minutes. Retain some of the water for later.

Place all ingredients into high powered food processor and blend until a sticky dough forms that can be easily formed into balls. You may need to add a little of the water to achieve the desired consistency.

*Note: if you prefer a smoother texture, blend the nuts for a few seconds before adding the remaining ingredients.

Roll dough into bite sized balls and store in an air tight container in the fridge.

The best thing about bliss balls is that each time I make them, they are slightly different from the last.

Depending on what ingredients I have in the pantry. Although almonds and walnuts are always guaranteed to be included. I did by 5kg each after all!

These apricot and choc chip ones are pretty yummy.
